Job Description

Blast Technician / Material Handler (Manufacturing) – 2nd Shift at Johnson Controls Federal Systems, York, PA (Grantly Plant). Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and organized 6S environment, operating powered equipment, maintaining forklift certification, and ensuring compliance with PPE protocols.

Pay: $31.79 per hour (includes $2.00 per hour shift differential). Shift: 2nd Shift. Bonus eligible:

• Working from complex mechanical drawings: preparing parts and other products from prints, standard work, and routers; collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
• Workmanship: documenting quality‑controlled tasks; properly handling finished product; preparing a machined surface finish and M number before blast; maintaining shot blast centers.
• Blast: operating blast centers with proper PPE; maintaining PPE equipment, cleaning and sanitizing after use; checking levels of the blast filtration system; protecting openings, threaded holes, heat/slab numbers and machined surfaces; properly placing material in work centers.
• Material Handling: staging work‑in‑process material at the proper stations; transporting inbound/outbound work center material; operating forklifts; transporting product on the RICO – training required; rigging various products—overhead crane/jib crane – training required; staging blasted parts on shadowed carts/skids.
• Other tasks: dumping metal hoppers; weighing refrigerant tanks; moving fixturing and other non‑inventory items.

• 1–5 years of related manufacturing experience, including blast, material handling, shipping/receiving.
• 1–5 years of forklift driving experience.
• Technical knowledge.
• Communication skills.
• Time‑management skills.

• Certified forklift and pending overhead crane operator.
• Accuracy in identifying, counting, and maintaining records.
• Read, write, add, subtract decimals and fractions; simple use of prints, move tickets, bills of materials, requisitions, CRT transactions.
