Job Description Job Details### Description### SUMMARY Start up, adjust and operate machines used in production lines to ensure proper and efficient operation and production with minimal disruption. An incumbent may or may not perform all of the duties listed below, dependent on the specific plant for which support is provided.

Essential FunctionsFUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
* Start up production machines; periodically check to ensure machine set points are accurate.
* Operate various production machines (extrusion blow mold, extrusion machine, injection blow mold, injection mold, label, pad printer, silk-screen).
* Ensure proper operation of machines; clean filters, perform minor maintenance, and monitor while purging.
* Ensure proper sleeves, boxes, labels and materials are used for the line running (verify by part numbers).
* Conduct quality inspections while line is running, check samples for compliance to specifications.
* Respond to problems on the line making proper adjustments to machines.
* Notify supervisor when repairs and maintenance are required.
* Re-start machines after maintenance is completed.
* Prepare paperwork/documentation on problems, cause and solutions.
* Record production and/or quality data (manual/data collector). Close out production run.
* Keep area clean and free of debris, enforce all safety and housekeeping policies and practices
* Assist with training other Technician Operators on various aspects of the job
* Provide relief for breaks and lunches
* Perform other related duties and special projects.
* Responsible for food safety, food quality and site safety

Marginal Functions
* May make boxes, pack and/or test various products.
* May attach labels to products.

Supervisory Functions None Position  Qualification Requirements

Education:

Requires a high school education or equivalent plus mechanical training/aptitude and technical training on packaging, plastics and printing equipment.

Experience:

Requires a minimum of 1 to 3 years experience operating machines used in the packaging/plastics industry to gain sufficient skill to perform the requirements of the position.

Perform reading, writing and speaking at a basic level.
* Mathematical:
Competent in practical application of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and trigonometry; add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure; calculate fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, variables and formulas.
* Reasoning:
Ability to apply rational principles to solve practical problems and deal with several concrete variables in standardized situations and to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
* Computer skills at a basic to intermediate level, including use of CNC machines.
