Production Manager, Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma
Job Description
Position has direct responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all production lines assigned. The role prioritizes work assignments for maintenance associates and manufacturing process engineers, fostering a team‑focused environment to achieve plant and company goals. The shift supervisor reports to this position and the supervisor participates in growth and development activities for all manufacturing operations personnel, covering safety, environmental, productivity, quality, maintenance, lean six sigma events and financial performance.
Responsibilities- Communicate safety and environmental expectations, conduct audits, investigate incidents, conduct safety meetings, authorize work permits and participate on the plant safety committee.
- Determine production requirements, assign personnel, monitor run rates, changeovers and line cleans; coordinate with maintenance, lab and warehouse to meet production expectations; troubleshoot process issues and implement solutions; develop and revise operating procedures; manage change documentation.
- Participate in staffing activities including interviewing, selection and performance reviews; recommend wage increases and promotions; develop work schedules and assign staff as needed.
- Support the reliability program by coordinating shift maintenance activities, auditing equipment checklists, scheduling line downtime and entering work orders.
- Utilize systems such as SAP, IQS, LRM, CCS, CAID Charts, E‑time, Ariba on Demand and Microsoft Office applications.
- Understand and manage financial performance from a cost‑to‑manufacture standpoint for assigned lines.
- Drive Lean Six Sigma events to improve overall performance.
- Perform additional projects and duties as assigned.
Requires standing and sitting for extended periods, walking, bending, stooping, climbing ladders and stairs, and occasionally lifting, pushing or pulling up to 50 pounds. Work is in a loud manufacturing environment; use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, shoes, hearing protection, hard hat and respiratory protection is required. Exposure to heat, humidity, dust and fumes, as well as outdoor weather, may occur.

Qualifications- Cross‑functional skills: problem solving, lean six sigma, cost and budget management, manufacturing industry knowledge, managing direct reports, leadership experience.
- Manufacturing knowledge: safety procedures and manufacturing operations.
- Personal skills: conflict resolution, time and priority management, teamwork, reading and comprehension, stress management, training and mentoring, self‑motivation, organizational and analytical skills.
- Software skills:
Microsoft Excel, Word, SAP. - BS/BA degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- 5–10 years of experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
- Prior experience managing indirect employees preferred.
