The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care and support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities residing at a State residential long-term care facility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, administering medications and treatments, supervising direct care staff, and ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment during the evening shift.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Deliver skilled nursing care in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and facility policies.
- Administer medications, treatments, and medical procedures accurately and safely.
- Monitor residents’ physical and emotional conditions and document changes appropriately.
- Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
- Supervise and support nursing assistants and direct care personnel during the shift.
- Maintain accurate medical records and complete required charting and reports.
- Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, infection control procedures, and safety standards.
- Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge planning as needed.
- Promote dignity, independence, and quality of life for residents.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a residential healthcare environment.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in long-term care is preferred.
