Position Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care and support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities residing at a State residential long-term care facility for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The RN is responsible for assessing patient needs, administering medications and treatments, supervising direct care staff, and ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment during the evening shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver skilled nursing care in accordance with physician orders, nursing standards, and facility policies.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and medical procedures accurately and safely.
  • Monitor residents’ physical and emotional conditions and document changes appropriately.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate care with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Supervise and support nursing assistants and direct care personnel during the shift.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and complete required charting and reports.
  • Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with state regulations, infection control procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharge planning as needed.
  • Promote dignity, independence, and quality of life for residents.
Qualifications
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a residential healthcare environment.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in long-term care is preferred.
