Position: Registered Nurse - Danville State Hospital (3rd Shift) (8 Hour Shifts)

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides professional nursing care to individuals who rely on skilled assessment and treatment. It involves working with a team to support physical, mental, and emotional health needs. As a Registered Nurse, you will perform the following duties:

  • Nursing Assessment:
    Evaluate the physical, mental, and emotional status of consumers
  • Care Planning:
    Develop and adjust treatment plans using nursing standards and facility guidelines
  • Medication Oversight:
    Administer medications and monitor responses to treatment
  • Team

    Collaboration:

    Work with interdisciplinary staff to coordinate care and share important observations
  • Safety Practices:
    Follow crisis prevention, infection control, and safety procedures in all care settings
  • Staff Guidance:
    Provide direction, support, and education to assigned personnel
WORK SCHEDULE AND ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Full‑time employment.
  • Positions are available on 3rd shift (11:00 pm–7:00 am, no lunch).
  • Rotating schedule – work every other weekend and holidays as assigned.
  • Shift differential for 3rd shift: $1.15 per hour.
  • May change based on operational needs.
  • Overtime:
    As needed.
  • New hires may be eligible for a $1,000.00 retention incentive payment, provided all criteria outlined in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement are met.
  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, and opportunities for career advancement.
  • Telework:
    This position does not allow telework.
  • Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $89,882.00 (before taxes).
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
  • This position requires active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees with an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one‑year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply. At the time of appointment, you must provide proof of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
  • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
