: 4 hrs/day (6:30 am
-10:30 am) 20 hrs/week 183 days/year

Pay Rate
:
Starting rate = $33.10/hr.

Summary
:
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Safe Schools and Emergency Management, the Security Officer ensures the safety of all students, staff, and visitors, and safeguards district property. This role focuses on supporting in maintaining school order, assisting building administration with daily operations and school events, and fostering positive relationships within the learning community.

Essential Functions
  • Provides protection to all persons and safeguards the property and facilities of the North Penn School District within the assigned building
  • Provides service to any student, staff member, or visitor in need of assistance or information
  • Provides immediate service to students, staff, or visitors when serious disturbances occur
  • Enforces rules and regulations regarding vehicular movement on campus when applicable
  • Assists in the enforcement of all school regulations and policies
  • Investigates misdemeanors that are discovered or reported on the premises
  • Recommends to the appropriate administrators the need to summon local municipal police
  • Assists in municipal police investigations
  • Maintains daily records and logs appropriate to the security police function
  • Follows the responsibilities and duties listed in the North Penn School District guidelines for security staff
  • Perform other security of safety tasks as assigned or directed
Education and/or Certification Required
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Police training preferred
  • Previous Law Enforcement, Military, or Security Experience Preferred
  • Valid PA driver's license
Experience Needed
  • Previous police, security, and child supervision/experience preferred
  • Practiced customer service and verbal de-escalation skills
Knowledge of
  • NPSD Student Code of Conduct desirable.
  • Basic methods of providing site security and safety.
  • Procedures of local police departments.
Requisite Skills
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, decision-making skills, and leadership abilities.
  • Strong communication skills - both verbal and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; be cooperative, congenial, and service-oriented, and able to o deal effectively with people.
  • Must establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Must be able to provide accurate written accounts or verbal statements of observed incidents or reports, upon request.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration with colleagues and administration.
