We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Technician to join our growing team. This role is responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and maintenance of structured cabling and low-voltage systems in commercial environments. Work will include data, fiber optic, audio/video, CCTV, and access control systems.
The ideal candidate takes pride in quality workmanship, is comfortable working in active construction environments, and can follow technical drawings and installation standards to complete projects safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities- Install, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling
- Install and support CCTV systems including cameras, NVRs, and related infrastructure
- Install and service access control systems including door hardware, readers, and controllers
- Install and support audio/video systems such as displays, speakers, and conferencing equipment
- Pull, dress, label, and organize low-voltage cabling in commercial buildings
- Perform testing and troubleshooting of cabling and systems to ensure proper operation
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical drawings
- Work in coordination with project managers and other technicians to complete jobs on schedule
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional work sites
- Follow all safety procedures and company standards
- Previous experience in low-voltage, structured cabling, or related field preferred
- Knowledge of Cat5e/Cat6 installation and termination preferred
- Experience with fiber optic cabling is a plus
- Familiarity with CCTV, access control, and/or A/V systems preferred
- Ability to use basic testing equipment (tone generator, tester, etc.)
- Ability to read construction drawings and technical documents
- Comfortable working in commercial construction environments (ladders, lifts, ceilings, etc.)
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Industry certifications (BICSI, FOA, etc.)
- Experience with multiple low-voltage disciplines (data, fiber, security, A/V)
