Corrections Maintenance Foreman - SCI Phoenix

The Position

The Department of Corrections, State Correctional Institution at Phoenix is seeking someone highly motivated to join our team as a Corrections Maintenance Foreman. In this role, you will use your building maintenance, construction, general trades, or related experience to lead and teach inmate work crews as they complete maintenance and repair projects throughout the facility. As a Corrections Maintenance Foreman at SCI Phoenix, you will guide inmate work crews as they complete general maintenance, repairs, construction, and groundskeeping work in and around the facility. You will also participate in hands‑on trade work and complete other tasks to support daily operations.

• Crew Leadership:
  Direct inmate work crews in completing construction, maintenance, groundskeeping, and janitorial tasks across the facility
• Work Oversight:
  Plan daily schedules, assign tasks, and inspect completed work assignments to ensure quality and completeness
• Equipment Instruction:
  Provide instruction on the safe use and basic care of tools, machinery, and vehicles
• Trades Work:
  Perform or assist with semi-skilled and skilled tasks such as carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, masonry, and other skilled trades
• Order and Safety:
  Maintain discipline during work assignments and document attendance to ensure accurate compensation
• Inventory Control:
  Issue, track, and account for all tools and materials; conduct searches as needed

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Tuesday - Saturday
• This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55

• Salary:
  Starting annual salary of $47,925.00 (before taxes). Higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement

• Four years of experience performing building maintenance, construction, or general trades work; or equivalent combination of experience and training

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required
• You must be able to perform essential job functions

• You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements
