Location: Bethlehem, PA
Pay Rate: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
Put your electronics and troubleshooting skills to work in a hands-on technical role! We're looking for a detail-oriented Test Technician who enjoys diagnosing problems, working with electronic test equipment, and ensuring products meet strict performance and quality standards.
Test Technician Education Requirements
- Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school preferred.
- Two years of technical training or equivalent electronics experience through trade school, military service, or related employment may be considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of technical training or hands-on experience in electronics, electrical testing, or a related technical field.
- Experience reading wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals, and performance specifications.
- Experience operating and calibrating electronic test equipment.
- Strong electronic troubleshooting, failure analysis, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and test equipment software or firmware.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, interpret, and document technical data.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing demands, and meet productivity expectations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with engineering and production teams.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Review test schedules, work orders, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, and performance specifications to determine testing procedures.
- Test electronic systems, subassemblies, and components under specified environmental conditions.
- Set up, operate, and calibrate electronic test equipment and instruments.
- Connect units to signal generators, frequency meters, DC power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and other testing equipment.
- Measure and evaluate voltage, frequency, distortion, inductance, capacitance, and other electronic characteristics.
- Compare test results against specifications and accurately document testing data.
- Analyze defective units to identify root causes and troubleshoot performance issues.
- Replace defective wiring or components and document defects requiring production repair.
- Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and production teams to resolve technical and testing issues.
- Verify dimensions of mechanical parts using appropriate measuring equipment.
- Develop test setups for non-standard and customer-returned units.
- Provide product improvement feedback and support Engineering Change Notice (ECN) activities.
- Ability to frequently stand and sit throughout the workday.
- Ability to regularly use hands and fingers to handle components, tools, and testing equipment.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms and perform detailed technical tasks.
- Ability to occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to frequently lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires close vision and the ability to adjust visual focus when inspecting components and reading test equipment.
- Ability to work in an environment with electrical equipment, chemicals, and potential airborne particles while following required PPE and safety procedures.
- Ability to work in environments where noise levels may exceed 70 dBA and wear required hearing protection.
