Join our team as a Housing Specialist in our Homeless Prevention Program, and be a part of providing crucial support to families in need, ensuring they have the resources to remain safe, stable, and together.
Starting wage: $18-$22/hour
Responsibilities- Accept and process referrals
- Secure eligibility data collection documentation requirements from clients
- Inspect identified apartments to meet county requirements prior to admission and during involvement in the housing program
- Submit client rental vouchers for reimbursement
- Make client referrals for job training, education, supportive services, and housing options
- Maintain case records/files on each client admitted to the program
- Complete client service plan and progress notes
- Advocate on behalf of clients to access other services
- Perform annual eligibility recertification
- Conduct face‑to‑face meetings with clients at least monthly and document service verification
- Participate in county audits and ongoing communications with contract monitor
- Complete required reports to county funders or any requested or assigned reports
- Participate in all staff development, training and meetings as required
- Enter monthly data requirements in HMIS or KIDS
- Enter and track all outcome information

- Preferred: A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related field; applicable experience with housing programs will be considered in lieu of a degree
- Preferred: 2+ years' experience and knowledge working with the homeless population
- Valid Driver's License and access to reliable transportation
- Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Solid computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and the Allegheny County HMIS
- Presentation skills and a professional manner, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of applicants and landlords
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self‑directed, flexible, with strong problem‑solving abilities
