Overview
The Armstrong County Children and Youth seeks a dedicated County Caseworker I to make a meaningful difference for children and families. This role supports others as they work toward safer and healthier futures.
Responsibilities- Help clients build skills in home management, budgeting, child care, parenting, and daily living.
- Refer individuals and families to community resources and services that match their needs.
- Conduct interviews and follow‑up visits to provide social service guidance and counseling.
- Prepare information and deliver supervised testimony in court.
- Maintain accurate summaries, reports, and correspondence using required agency methods.
- Participate in reviews, conferences, and training designed to strengthen social service skills.
Full‑time employment, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday – Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch. On‑call responsibilities apply. Telework is not available.
Required Experience and Training- Two years as a County Social Services Aide III, plus 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or
- Bachelor’s degree with 12 qualifying college credits in the same areas; or
- Equivalent combination of experience and training, including 12 qualifying college credits and one year as a County Social Services Aide III or similar paraprofessional case‑management role.
- Applicants will be considered eligible within two months of graduating with the qualifying degree or credits.
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Law, including criminal history and clearance reports.
