Position: County Caseworker 1 (Local Government) - Armstrong County C&Y (Multiple Vacancies)

Overview

The Armstrong County Children and Youth seeks a dedicated County Caseworker I to make a meaningful difference for children and families. This role supports others as they work toward safer and healthier futures.

Responsibilities
  • Help clients build skills in home management, budgeting, child care, parenting, and daily living.
  • Refer individuals and families to community resources and services that match their needs.
  • Conduct interviews and follow‑up visits to provide social service guidance and counseling.
  • Prepare information and deliver supervised testimony in court.
  • Maintain accurate summaries, reports, and correspondence using required agency methods.
  • Participate in reviews, conferences, and training designed to strengthen social service skills.
Work Schedule

Full‑time employment, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Monday – Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch. On‑call responsibilities apply. Telework is not available.

Required Experience and Training
  • Two years as a County Social Services Aide III, plus 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences; or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 12 qualifying college credits in the same areas; or
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training, including 12 qualifying college credits and one year as a County Social Services Aide III or similar paraprofessional case‑management role.
  • Applicants will be considered eligible within two months of graduating with the qualifying degree or credits.
Other Requirements
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Law, including criminal history and clearance reports.
