Job Description
American Red Cross is hiring 8 part-time Summer Camp Counselors in Philadelphia for a temporary program lasting 6 weeks, 20 hours per week. No benefits are provided.
Positions require candidates to be at least 18 years old, possess a valid driver’s license, and be willing to drive Red Cross fleet vehicles.
Responsibilities- Attend mandatory trainings during the one‑week onboarding period (July 6–11, daily 8:30–5 pm).
- Coordinate with team members regarding timely arrival at camp locations each day.
- Conduct Prepare with Pedro, Be Red Cross Ready and Hands Only CPR presentations for youth at summer camp settings.
- Utilize physical and audiovisual program materials to deliver engaging presentations.
- Work with individual students during activities.
- Organize and distribute program support materials to students.
- Assist with classroom management.
- Ensure all reporting data for each presentation is completed and submitted to regional staff in a timely manner.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by the regional staff and volunteer program leads.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working with youth and delivering educational presentations preferred; disaster‑specific knowledge will be provided during training.
- Basic computer skills; exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to work well with youth and on a team.
- Daily travel across the City of Philadelphia required; must hold a current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move objects 10–50 pounds. Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The work environment will consist of moderate noise.
