The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a dedicated County Caseworker 1 who wants to make a meaningful impact every day. DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This role focuses on ensuring the safety and stability of children and families while supporting their long term well being. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Case Investigation:
Conduct timely reviews of GPS and CPS referrals to determine safety needs and risks. - Family Engagement:
Work directly with children and families to assess concerns and identify needed supports. - Service Coordination:
Collaborate with community partners and statewide providers to arrange important services. - Case Management:
Maintain accurate documentation and manage an assigned caseload within required timelines. - Communication:
Share information with team members and partner agencies to support effective planning.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
- On‑call and after‑hours required.

- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelor’s degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case‑management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
LEGAL REQUIREMENTS- This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
- Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
