Child Line Caseworker – Office of Children, Youth and Families. Make a positive difference by helping callers in distress, reporting suspected child abuse and neglect, and ensuring information reaches the correct agency.
Description of Work- Explain rights and confidentiality to callers.
- Show empathy and professionalism while assisting emotional or hesitant callers.
- Interview callers to identify facts and determine the nature of each referral.
- Search the statewide database for related reports.
- Apply laws and policies to analyze reports and refer them to the correct agency.
- Review investigation outcomes for accuracy before final approval.
- Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week.
- 24/7 hotline coverage with shift work; available shifts include 12:00 AM‑8:00 AM, 12:00 PM‑8:00 PM, 3:00 PM‑11:00 PM, 5:00 PM‑1:00 AM. Other shifts (7:00 AM‑3:00 PM, 8:00 AM‑4:00 PM, 9:00 AM‑5:00 PM) may become available.
- Opportunities for overtime: expected weekly average of 10 hours.
- Training lasts three months; most training hours are 8:00 AM‑4:00 PM.
- Location:
2525 North 7th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110. - Telework: up to 2 days per week from a PA‑based approved location with reliable high‑speed internet; subject to change.
- Starting salary: $53,008 per year.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree qualifies as educational requirement.
- PA residency requirement.
- Ability to perform essential job functions.
- Position falls under Child Protective Services Law.
- Conditional offer requires satisfactory criminal history reports: PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, FBI fingerprint clearance.
