Heavy Equipment Operator ; Heavy Duty Compactor

Responsibilities

This is skilled heavy‑duty vehicle operations work, involving such equipment as earthmoving and road building vehicles, small mobile equipment with crane attachments of limited flexibility, or compactors with multiple axles or high density. Work is distinguished from the lower‑level equipment operations classes by complexity of operator functions performed, which require a substantial degree of coordination. Work may include light or heavy physical labor when not operating equipment or driving it to and from the work site.

Work is performed under the supervision of a crew chief or supervisor.

Experience
:

• Six (6) months of experience in the class of Equipment Operator 2 or a comparable City class.
• One (1) year of experience in the class of Equipment Operator 1.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience determined to be acceptable by the Office of Human Resources, including possession of a valid class “A” or “B” commercial driver’s license (CDL).

Commercial Driver’s License
:
Possession of a valid Class A or B – Commercial Drivers License (CDL) issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required. Submit a copy of the valid CDL to be approved.

Education
:

• High School/ GED.
