DescriptionThe School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community. Position will monitor and assist students on the bus to and from school. This is a split shift position.
The Day-to-Day Substitute Bus Monitor assists the Transportation Department by providing supervision and support for students during transportation services on an as‑needed basis. This position helps maintain a safe, orderly, and positive environment for students while assisting bus drivers with student supervision, behavior management, loading and unloading procedures, and transportation safety. The role requires patience, flexibility, reliability, and the ability to work effectively with students and staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Supervises students during transportation to and from school, extracurricular activities, field trips, and other approved events.
- Promotes and maintains safe and appropriate student behavior on school buses in accordance with district policies and procedures.
- Assists students with boarding, seating, securement, and exiting the school bus safely, including students with disabilities or specialized transportation needs, as assigned.
- Communicates effectively with bus drivers, transportation staff, school personnel, students, and parents/guardians regarding transportation‑related matters.
- Assists with implementation of student behavior plans and safety procedures, as directed.
- Monitors bus conditions and reports student concerns, safety issues, accidents, or incidents to the driver and Transportation Department promptly.
- Assists with emergency evacuations and transportation emergencies in accordance with district procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of student and transportation‑related information.
- Maintains professionalism and positive interactions with students, staff, and families.
- Accepts substitute assignments on an as‑needed basis and works flexible schedules, including morning and afternoon routes, field trips, or extracurricular activities.
- Attends required trainings and safety meetings, as assigned.

Day to Day Substitute position, called as needed. When called to work, shifts are approximately 2 hours or 4 hours per day, AM (about 2 hours) and PM (about 2 hours). Hours subject to change based on district needs.
