Specialist – Day Habilitation Program
Location:
Bethpage, NY, US
Salary: $66,300.00 annually
Responsibilities- Provide a Music/Creative Arts program on a daily basis for individuals supported and coordinate special events/activities.
- Plan and organize monthly programs of varied group activities, including music and other creative art modalities.
- Lead the implementation of the program-wide Music Specialty program and lead music groups daily.
- Provide individual and/or small group music sessions as recommended.
- Ensure necessary, age-appropriate music, exercise, and leisure skills equipment and supplies are available within budgetary guidelines and maintained for health and safety.
- Coordinate monthly special events and/or other program activities utilizing community resources.
- Accompany individuals supported on cultural/recreational/volunteer community participation outings as needed.
- Complete and ensure accurate and timely completion of daily notes and all other required paperwork.
- Collaborate with Art Studio staff to discuss new creative arts programs and community activities; ensure follow-up and implementation of approved activities.
- Provide room coverage, bus-duty, and lunch coverage on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Bachelor’s degree with one year experience preferred, or an Associate’s degree with 3 years’ experience, or High School Diploma with 5 years’ experience. Degree and experience should be in Music, Music Therapy, Psychology, Special Education, or Human Services.
- Formal training/educational background in music or creative arts required, or demonstrated talent in music/creative arts through work or volunteer experience.
- Experience working with individuals who are developmentally disabled preferred.
- Complete required trainings in SCIP (Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention) and CPR certification.
- Clean valid NYS driver’s license.
