Medical Assistant - Bethpage

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Medical Assistant – Bethpage. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting physicians and nurses in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks; providing competent, safe, and compassionate care with an emphasis on understanding the challenges faced by hospitalized patients or those undergoing procedures or diagnostic tests.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Assist with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas, and escort patients.
• Obtain vital signs, weights, and ECGs when needed; assist with blood collection phlebotomy as required. Ensure charts are available with relevant lab work and test reports for physicians when the patient is seen. Assist physicians with procedures such as GI procedures and all medical exams.
• Ensure exam rooms and treatment areas are cleaned after each patient leaves and prepared for the next patient. Assist with light housekeeping duties, including spills. Assist patients with obtaining food, toileting, ambulating, and maintaining comfort.
• Ensure completion of patient charges as per policy.
• Clean and sterilize designated equipment after use. Answer the telephone in the treatment area and assist staff in scheduling treatments. Assist patients and communicate with physicians to obtain prescription renewals as needed.
• Stock exam and treatment rooms with medical supplies, linen, and designated chart forms.
• Assist with training of new Medical Assistants. May perform administrative responsibilities as needed.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of computers.
• Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Preferred.
• Medical Assistant Certification – Preferred.
• Knowledge of EPIC Ambulatory – Preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology – Preferred.

Salary range: $61,692.75 annually.
