Medical Biller​/Appeals Specialist

A fast-growing out-of-network practice is building an in-house billing team and seeking an experienced Out of Network Appeals Specialist. Candidate should have at least 3 years of similar experience. The ideal candidate should have excellent communications skills, be reliable, and have the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment. Candidate should be a quick learner with the ability to work independently.

Must be familiar with the following aspects of the Medical Billing field:

• General Surgery
• Out of Network billing practices
• Appeal process
• ICD-10-CM and CPT universal coding systems

Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

• Train in any new software or processes that may implemented
• Review electronic and paper denials and submit the appropriate appeals
• Be accountable for following timely filing appeals requirements
• Follow up on claims and appeal status

Requirements:

• Previous experience with medical appeals submission (particularly out of network billing and appeals)
• Proficient with computers
• Familiar with Google Drive & Google Workplace
• Well-organized with attention to detail
• Must work effectively with insurance companies and other outside parties
• Must be organized, able to prioritize tasks and handle multiple projects
• Accuracy and attention to detail is essential
• Must be able to work independently and as a team player
• Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written)
• Communicates with professionalism and accuracy and maintains courteous working relationships with coworkers
• Ability to read, review, and understand line items on a claim form
• Maintains and conforms to all Privacy Laws regarding patients and practice
• IDR process experience is a plus
• Willingness to learn and expand knowledge of the revenue cycle
