Overview

Join Our Team as a Bilingual Forensic Interviewer for our Nassau Child Advocacy Center.

EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 80,000 people through 120 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a dedicated full time Forensic Interviewer to join the Nassau Child Advocacy Center.

Wage: $30 to $36 per hour
Schedule: 9AM-5PM, Monday - Friday (with 1-2 evening hours as needed)

Primary Purpose of the Position:

The EAC Network Nassau County Child Advocacy Center, located in Bethpage, NY, provides a coordinated, child-focused response to allegations of child sexual abuse. The Forensic Interviewer conducts trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive forensic interviews of children and adolescents referred by the Department of Social Services (DSS), law enforcement, and the District Attorney’s Office. This position reports directly to the Nassau CAC Program Director and works in full collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT).

Responsibilities
  • Conduct forensic interviews in accordance with Nassau County MDT guidelines, National Children’s Alliance (NCA) accreditation standards, New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) protocols and recognized best practices.
  • Coordinate interview scheduling with DSS, Special Victims Unit, and the District Attorney’s Office to ensure timely interviews.
  • Actively participate in MDT pre-briefings and debriefings to support coordinated case planning.
  • Participate in peer review sessions to ensure consistency, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of forensic interviewing practices.
  • Accurately document interviews and case information in the assigned database; maintain records in compliance with funder, agency, and MDT requirements.
  • Provide testimony in criminal, family, and civil court proceedings when subpoenaed; defend the integrity of forensic interviews conducted.
  • Provide information and support to child victims and non-offending caregivers regarding the interview process and criminal justice system procedures.
  • Assist the CAC Director with program data collection, statistical reporting, and scheduling functions as assigned.
  • Attend mandatory and supplemental professional development trainings to maintain current knowledge of research, techniques, and standards in forensic interviewing and child abuse investigations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Nassau CAC Director and EAC Network Administration.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field required;
    Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working in child sexual abuse investigations, forensic interviewing, child protective services, or a related field.
  • Successful completion of, or ability to complete, NCA, OCFS, or Nassau County MDT-approved forensic interviewer training program upon hire.
  • Working knowledge of child protective services, law enforcement investigative protocols, and the criminal, family, and civil court systems.
  • Ability to independently manage high-stress, sensitive situations while maintaining composure and sound judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, database systems, and other relevant software applications.
  • Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and occasional weekends, as required by program operations.
  • Valid New York State driver’s license and access to a reliable automobile required.
  • Must be bilingual in Spanish.
