Day Services Assistant Manager

The primary role of the Day Services Assistant Manager is to ensure that all of the needs of the people supported in the program are met while working in partnership with them to achieve their personal outcomes. This includes working with them to develop daily living, professional and informed decision-making skills while also supporting their health and safety and ensures their rights are both promoted and respected.
In order to accomplish this, the Assistant Manager leads a team of Community Direct Support Professionals (CDSPs) and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and in conjunction with residential and clinical providers to work alongside the people they support to develop plans to meet the individual's needs. The Assistant Manager is also responsible for ensuring that these plans are both followed and documented in an appropriate manner.
In addition, the Assistant Manager is responsible for providing supervision and support to the CDSPs and DSPs.
Duties, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions
- Works with the people we support to help them identify and realize their personal life goals.
- Works in partnership with the people we support to ensure that their rights, health, safety and personal outcomes are being supported at all times.
- Effectively communicates and supports the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Advocates with the people we support in a variety of situations.
- Works with the people we support to teach them new life skills.
- Works with the people we support and other members of the interdisciplinary team to develop service plans that aid the person in achieving their personal life goals.
- Assists the people we support to overcome barriers and challenges to establish and maintain a network of relationships and valued social roles.
- Provides positive behavior support to the people we support as necessary.
- Prevents, recognizes, and reports abuse toward the people we support.
- Promotes and supports community involvement for the people we support.
- Adheres to the organization's Code of Ethics and all other agency policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Always communicates in a respectful manner with all people including the people we support, supervisors, other valued team members, and members of the community.
- Maintains ongoing communication with the individuals, residential staff, family members, and other collateral providers involved with the program and individuals served.
- Interviews, hires, develops, and retains high quality staff.
- Supervises, trains, observes, and evaluated assigned Community Direct Support Professionals (CDSPs) and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
- Completes initial period of employment performance appraisals in conjunction with the agency training packet.
- Completes employee annual performance appraisals as per agency policy.
- Trains assigned Community Direct Support Professionals/Direct Support Professionals in the appropriate implementation of services, activities, interactions, and documentation.
- Trains team members on the electronic record keeping system (Medisked) in order for them to provide/document services.
- Ensures required documentation is completed accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner (contemporaneously) by assigned Community Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Professionals.
- Completes daily validations.
- Coordinates and completes the required annual/semi-annual review process for individuals assigned.
- Accurately documents daily service provision, monthly notes, and other information as required.
- Attends assigned individuals' life plans (annual/semi-annual), IDT, and other required meetings.
- Oversees that the recommendations made at meetings are carried out.
- Monitors assigned individuals progress on a monthly and on an as needed basis.
- Ensures all records of individuals assigned are kept up to date (paper and digital).
- Attends committee meetings as required or assigned.
- Assists in the training and orientation of new staff and/or floating staff.
- Assumes the full responsibilities of QIDP for assigned caseload.
- Obtains required documentation from collateral providers and ensure documentation is scanned into the individuals' electronic records.
