Position: Substitute Teacher 26-27

Substitute Teacher

Pleasant Valley Community School District is currently hiring substitute teachers for the  school year.

To substitute teach in the State of Iowa you must hold a current Iowa Teaching License, Iowa Substitute Teaching License, or Iowa Substitute Authorization License.

Qualifications:

Holds an Iowa teaching certificate, meets the requirements of certification, or holds a Substitute Teaching certificate or a Substitute Authorization certificate issued by the State of Iowa.

Reports To:

Building Principal

Job Goal:
To enable each child to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of their regular teacher.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Review with the principal or department head all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
  • Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
  • Teaches the lessons outlined and described in the teachers lesson plans.
  • Consults with the building principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the teachers lesson plans.
  • Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class.
  • Reports in writing, on the form provided by the school administrative assistant, on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
  • Verifies with the school administrative assistant that his/her attendance will or will not be required on the following teaching day.
  • Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
  • Terms Of Employment:
    Per diem, at rates currently established by the Board.

    Physical Requirements:

    Medium Work - lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently or up to 10 lbs. constantly. Stooping and kneeling occasionally. Reaching, talking, and hearing frequently. Must be able to remain mobile throughout the work day.
