Position: Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer (Construction)

Summary

Our client is currently seeking individuals for a full‑time position as a Mechanical Project Engineer located in the San Diego, CA area. Backed by almost a century of customer care and ownership, the company adheres to the highest safety standards and offers industry‑leading BIM capabilities, design/build services, sustainable solutions, commercial HVAC services, and complex mechanical and industrial system installations.

Responsibilities
  • Project estimating (take‑off & analysis)
  • Project scheduling (manpower scheduling)
  • Manage RFIs (Requests for Information)
  • Prepare submittal packages and manage the flow of contractor‑provided submittal data
  • Assist in data population of forms
  • Prepare project progress billings
  • Assist in technical analysis, troubleshooting, and problem solving of HVAC air equipment, HVAC piping equipment systems, HVAC & plumbing equipment
Skills and Experience
  • Basic working knowledge of HVAC & plumbing design & system operation
  • Basic working knowledge of commercial & industrial construction sequences
  • Basic working knowledge of construction estimating
  • Basic working knowledge of testing procedures for HVAC systems
  • Basic working knowledge of ASHRAE data & guidelines
  • Average proficiency with MS Project scheduling program
  • Average proficiency with MS Access or other database programs
  • Above average proficiency with MS Excel & Word
  • Above average proficiency with Internet
  • Above average verbal & writing skills
  • Above average organizational skills in handling & archiving technical data
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other engineering disciplines (Civil, Industrial, Structural)
  • 5 years industry experience as a Construction Project Engineer
  • Demonstrated experience with project administration, project scheduling, productivity analysis, project cost control accounting, and equipment & material procurement
