Position Overview
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of tax professionals, providing strategic direction, management, mentoring, and technical expertise across the firm's platform.
- Act as a principal stakeholder for all tax-related business requirements, engaging regularly with firm Executives and Partners to ensure alignment.
- Collaborate closely with clients and internal stakeholders to define business objectives and deliver actionable tax insights and solutions.
- Formulate and implement strategies to address complex tax issues, fostering progressive changes that align with the firm’s business objectives.
- Deliver clear, concise tax guidance to enhance operational efficiency and improve the client experience.
- Oversee the review and approval of corporate, partnership, individual, and trust tax returns and projections, including multiple multi-state filings.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in federal tax consulting and/or compliance, gained within a public accounting or professional services setting.
- At least 5 years of experience in leadership roles within a tax practice.
- Proven capability to direct a public accounting department encompassing all facets of tax services, such as compliance, human capital services, federal and state tax services, international tax, private wealth management, tax reporting and advisory, partnership taxation, non-profit tax, and M&A tax.
- Strong knowledge of both domestic and international accounting and tax standards.
- Expertise in identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex tax issues with effective solution implementation.
- Comprehensive understanding of tax regulations and concepts applicable to individuals, C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts.
- Proficient in US GAAP and state tax compliance, with substantial experience in partnership returns and various non-corporate entity tax filings, including combined state returns.
- Willingness to work additional hours as necessary and travel to firm sites as needed.
- Advanced proficiency in tax software, along with familiarity with multiple tax package technologies.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related discipline is required.
- A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Active CPA or JD/law license is mandatory.
