The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation for all glassware, tableware, cookware, and kitchen equipment using both machine and manual cleaning methods. This role ensures the dishwashing area remains clean, safe, organized, and fully operational at all times. As a vital member of the back‑of‑house team, the Dishwasher supports kitchen efficiency and contributes directly to a safe, sanitary, and high‑performing culinary environment.
EssentialJob Functions
- Sort, rinse, and properly load dirty dishes, glassware, tableware, pots, pans, and utensils into dish racks for machine washing
- Unload, sort, and stack clean items; transport to appropriate storage areas or cooks’ lines
- Rewash items as necessary to ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are met
- Change dish machine water at least hourly and monitor wash and rinse cycle temperatures; notify management if temperatures fall below safety standards
- Wash pots, pans, trays, and other equipment by hand as required
- Set up and break down the dishwashing area before and after service
- Clean, roll, and unroll floor mats
- Fill and empty soak tubs with appropriate cleaning and sanitizing solutions
- Sweep and mop kitchen floors, ensuring surfaces remain clean and dry
- Assemble and disassemble dish machine components for cleaning
- Remove trash and garbage to designated dumpster areas; maintain cleanliness around exterior dumpster areas
- Conduct general restaurant and restroom cleaning as directed
- Wipe up spills immediately to prevent slips and maintain a safe work environment
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
Pay: $18 - $21 / hour

Education- High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred
- Minimum 1 year of dishwasher experience, preferably in a high‑volume or professional kitchen
- Knowledge and proper practice of sanitation, food safety, and general hygiene standards
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced kitchen environment
- Ability to lift, reach, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks
- Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods
- Clear and effective verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and safety
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Use hands and arms to handle objects, tools, and controls
- Reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed
- Talk, hear, and occasionally taste or smell
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Conditions- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and extreme heat
- Occasional exposure to extreme cold
- Work environment is typically loud
- Fast‑paced kitchen setting requiring attention to safety and sanitation at all times
