Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - Tee Times are from 11a-1p & Wednesday - Tee Times are from 12p-2p

POSITION

PURPOSE:

The City of Birmingham (EOE) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Junior Ranger with the City's Department of Public Services. The Junior Ranger plays a vital role in supporting our summer Junior Golf Program by providing on-course guidance, promoting golf etiquette, ensuring participant safety, and helping create a positive, structured learning environment. This is a hands‑on position ideal for someone who enjoys working with the youth, has a passion for golf, and understands the importance of pace of play and course care.

FUNCTIONS

AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This list is not to be treated as all inclusive.

Escort and guide junior golfers on the golf course during their 9-hole playing sessions.

Reinforce proper golf etiquette and sportsmanship.

Monitor and teach appropriate pace of play.

Assist with basic on-course maintenance duties such as,

Fixing ball marks on the greens.
Cleaning up debris.
Encouraging bunker raking and tee box care.

Provide encouragement and support to junior participants.

Serve as a role model for respectful, responsible, and enthusiastic golf behavior.

Additional related responsibilities as assigned.

NECESSARY

SKILLS:

Must be responsible and punctual.
Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills.
Possess good communication skills.
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to work the golf course and be outdoors for extended periods.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Experience playing or understanding golf rules and etiquette is not required, but preferred.
Experience with public contact is preferred.
