SummaryTo perform successfully, an individual must be able to work with many interruptions, be able to interact with tax paying and ticket paying public and still be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. Maintain all records of parking permits, parking tickets and other clerical duties of the office.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInclude the following; other duties may be assigned.
- Deal with the public in a professional manner.
- Receive money from customers for various payments.
- Process parking payments, tax payments, citation payments and utility payments.
- Direct Deputy Collector for printing of 21-day notices and marking tickets with RMV.
- Answer questions at counter, on phone, email and by US mail.
- Process and prepare documents to issue refund checks. Maintain filing system for all refunds issued.
- Make decisions based on knowledge of the workings of the office.
- Meet for hearings with Traffic officer on his/her appointment for parking ticket appeals.
- Provide traffic supervisor and head of traffic sergeant with current Tow & Hold list.
- Research ticket/violation information for traffic enforcement.
- Verify the accuracy and correct parking ticket information if needed in the Deputy Collector’s Portal.
- Provide the handicapped parking payments totals to the Mayor’s Commission for Disability.
- Maintain the Upsafety Database with sales of Parking Permits under the direction of the Parking Supervisor. Process departmental deposits for parking permits and meter payments.
- High School graduate; at least three years experience with handling of cash and the use of computers; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work with interruptions and still be detail oriented.
- Ability to interact with the tax paying public and still able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and to be familiar with the use of decimals and percentages.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Organize and perform duties without supervision.
