** Position Overview
** The Technical Assistant in the Center for the Arts and Department of Performing Arts, reporting to the Audio Arts Technician, provides technical support for theatrical productions, concerts, rehearsals, and special events across campus. The position is responsible for assisting with the preparation, operation, and strike of productions, ensuring that performances and events are executed safely, efficiently, and professionally.
This position supports periods of high production activity throughout the academic year, particularly during production weeks and at the end of each semester. Work is performed primarily during evenings and weekends, with a flexible schedule based on departmental production needs.
This is a part-time position, working up to 19 hours per week, and is not eligible for benefits.

** Key Responsibilities**### Production Setup, Operation, and Strike (45%)
* Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of theatrical productions, concerts, rehearsals, and special events.
* Set up and strike production equipment, including amplifiers, microphones, speakers, lighting instruments, musical instruments, and related audio equipment.
* Assemble and dismantle staging elements, including risers, scenic walls, masking legs, curtains, backdrops, and other theatrical equipment.
* Assist with scene changes and backstage operations during performances.
* Support productions in the Rose Theater, Tia's Black Box Theater, and other campus venues.### Lighting and Audio Support (30%)
* Hang, focus, move, and maintain theatrical lighting instruments and associated cabling.
* Assist with theatrical electrical work, including running power and signal cables while following established safety procedures.
* Assist with audio system installation, wiring, troubleshooting, and strike.
* Support programming and operation of theatrical lighting control systems and lighting cues.
* Support programming and operation of digital sound consoles, playback systems, and sound cues.### Scenic Construction and Technical Maintenance (15%)
* Assist with scenic construction, light carpentry, painting, and maintenance of scenery and production equipment.
* Help maintain technical spaces, including organization of scenery, lumber, tools, hardware, cables, and storage areas.
* Assist with inventory management and maintenance of technical equipment and supplies.### Technology Support (10%)
* Support projection systems, video playback, computer-based production technologies, AI-assisted production tools, and other emerging technical systems as appropriate.
* Perform other technical duties in support of productions and special events.
* Other duties as assigned.## Community Engagement
* Be an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting key events like Commencement, Homecoming, and other all-hands-on-deck gatherings. Show a spirit of collaboration and community involvement, including volunteering when possible.
