The SV Design Narrative:
Build Something That Lasts
SV Design is a place for Legacy Builders. We are made up of professionals who are looking to grow, stay, and build a career. We focus on hiring people who see their work as a long-term contribution to our firm, our communities, and the next generation of design talent. As a 50-person firm, we offer a rare opportunity: the high-caliber project diversity of a large practice combined with the ego-free, collaborative feel of a small studio.
We are locally rooted, relationship-driven, and focused on the craft of "doing the work" rather than the noise surrounding it. If you value ownership, proximity to leadership, and a community where you belong rather than just a place where you work, SV Design is your next chapter.
In this role, you will work primarily on mid to large-sized high-end residential projects, taking on increased responsibility for coordination, detailing, and technical oversight. This position is designed for someone with 6–8+ years of experience who is ready to operate semi-autonomously, support Project Managers, and help mentor junior team members while continuing their path toward licensure.
What You'll Do- Technical Drafting & Documentation: Coordinate and produce AutoCAD drawing sets with a high level of technical accuracy. Incorporate and manage redline revisions across all project phases, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Field Work: Conduct field measurements and documentation as needed; review existing conditions and verify accuracy for use in drawing sets.
- Design Development & Detailing: Translate design intent into well-resolved construction details. Contribute to design problem-solving through research, precedent review, and technical refinement.
- Project Coordination: Support Project Managers by coordinating drawing sets, reviewing consultant documentation, and helping ensure alignment across disciplines. Review shop drawings and submittals for accuracy and constructability.
- Integrated
Collaboration:
Work closely with architects, interior designers, and Project Managers to maintain design integrity and technical rigor. Provide guidance and informal mentorship to Architectural Designer 1s and Interns.
- Technical Ownership: You understand the "why" behind residential construction details and apply that knowledge to execute and review work with confidence.
- Collaborative Leadership: You contribute to an ego-free studio culture and support junior team members through clear communication and constructive feedback.
- Proactive Anticipation: You anticipate next steps, flag issues early, and help move projects forward with minimal direction.
- Design Judgment: You bring a strong eye for proportion, detail, and finish, ensuring technical decisions support the overall design vision.
- Experience: 5–8+ years of professional architectural experience (High-end residential experience strongly preferred).
- Technical
Skills:
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Working knowledge of Revit and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus. - Education: Professional degree (B.Arch or M.Arch) is required to support the path to licensure.
Full-time, in-office with flexible hours.
Core collaborative hours are 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
, with a general schedule of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Even if you don't have the exact experience, we are always looking for talented people. If you believe you can contribute to our team, we invite you to apply. We appreciate diversity and welcome those who can bring fresh perspectives and skills to our team.
