The OTA will work under the direction of the Occupational Therapy Department Head to support students’ sensory integration, visual‑perceptual and visual‑motor skills, fine motor development, self‑care, and vocational readiness. The position involves direct student work, collaboration with classroom teams, and participation in school‑wide activities.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver creative, active occupational therapy interventions that promote student growth.
- Observe classroom teams, consult, and model lessons, including co‑teaching when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate data on student progress toward individualized goals.
- Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to support classroom clinical programming.
- Assist with preparation of materials and scheduling of activities.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and professional development to support school and organizational priorities.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Direct experience related to the job functions and responsibilities described.
- Coursework in occupational therapy.
- Massachusetts Occupational Therapy license and NBCOT certification.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- 1–3 years of experience in school‑based or pediatric occupational therapy.
- Coursework or experience in Deaf Education, Special Education, Assistive Technology, Pediatric Therapy, or Early Childhood.
- Familiarity with ASL or willingness to learn (free ASL courses and interpreter support available).
