The Special Education Teacher will be expected to teach, plan and grade collaboratively with content teachers and to work closely with other instructional staff to support the academic needs of students with varying disabilities.
Responsibilities- Write IEP goals and objectives, collect student data, analyze data and accurately report academic progression on progress reports and within team meetings.
- Utilize a variety of assessment tools to support the eligibility process during initial team meetings and 3‑year reevaluations, and maintain training and/or licensure in the area of reading.
- Provide instruction in reading, math, and written language for students with varying disabilities, using the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for ELA and Math and establishing entry points as needed.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with all staff to support academic needs and ensure implementation of accommodations and/or modifications across the school setting.
- Maintain respectful, culturally proficient communication with parents, guardians, and outside agency providers.
- Provide direct instruction for students and prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for learning differences and varied learning styles.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect student needs.
- Manage student behavior to create an effective learning environment in compliance with district and state guidelines.
- Collaborate with other staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods in accordance with district requirements.
- Provide timely and appropriate substitute plans as necessary.
- Conduct ongoing formal and informal assessment of student learning.
- Maintain a persistent belief in the potential for all students to succeed academically with an asset‑based mindset.
- Analyze and utilize student data to develop and co‑create curriculum and instruction that meets diverse learner needs.
- DESE certified, minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate content area, and a valid Massachusetts Teacher Certificate.
- Appropriate Massachusetts DESE and Special Education certification required.
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Compensation is set in accordance with the Beverly Teachers Association Unit A collective bargaining agreement and is commensurate with experience and education. Position Type:
Full‑time.
