OverviewBeverly Public Schools is committed to building an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Beverly Middle School seeks a special education teacher for its substantially separate program for students with intensive needs, including global cognitive delays and autism spectrum disorders. The role involves individualized instruction across all academic areas and support for students requiring intensive services.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions- Deliver direct instruction for students, tailoring lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, and equipment.
- Manage student behavior to meet district and state guidelines and create an effective learning environment.
- Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals and methods per district requirements.
- Provide timely substitute plans when necessary.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning through formal and informal testing.
- Maintain an asset‑based mindset, believing in all students’ potential for academic success.
- Communicate respectfully and in a culturally proficient manner with parents/guardians about progress.
- Analyze and utilize student data to develop or co‑create curriculum and instruction for diverse learners.
- MA DESE licensure in moderate or severe disabilities (severe disabilities preferred).
- Minimum three years of relevant experience; preferred.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Salary is set in accordance with the Beverly Teachers Association Unit A collective bargaining agreement and is commensurate with experience and education.
