This position ensures the implementation of contemporary, neurodiversity-affirming practices that enhance the mental health and well‑being of students. The Director serves as the primary architect of the school’s counseling model, ensuring vertical alignment of services from Grade 2 through Grade 12, in support of the Portrait of a Graduate.

This role includes clinical supervision, strategic departmental oversight, and the development of school-wide student programming and staff training initiatives to foster a holistic, healthy school environment.

Clinical Supervision: Lead, recruit, and mentor a team of counselors and clinicians across both campuses, ensuring high‑quality care and adherence to ethical standards and licensure requirements.

Scope of Care: Define and maintain the boundaries of on-campus clinical support, strategically balancing school‑based interventions with the coordination of external provider referrals.

Operational Model Evaluation: Conduct comprehensive assessments of departmental staffing to ensure clinical coverage aligns with the needs of both day and boarding students. Evaluate and implement scheduling models that optimize counselor availability during high‑impact periods for the boarding community.

Crisis Management: Oversee emergency evaluations and safety planning, serving as the senior clinical consultant for high‑risk situations and providing "after‑hours" on‑call and emergency coverage as needed for the academic year and Summer Program.

Administrative Oversight: Manage the counseling department budget, maintain comprehensive clinical records in accordance with state and departmental guidelines, and oversee 51A documentation and reporting.

Programmatic Integration: Partner with Campus Directors, Deans, and faculty to ensure social‑emotional learning and support is proactively embedded into the academic curriculum and daily school life.

Training and Staff Consultation: Design and facilitate professional development workshops for faculty and staff on mental health, SEL, and the LBLD profile. Provide clinical guidance to school personnel regarding student mental health needs, including prospective students in Admission process.

Liaison & Advocacy: Act as a primary clinical liaison to parents and external health providers, ensuring effective communication and coordination for student support plans.

Requirements

Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology required.

Licensure: Independent clinical licensure (e.g., LICSW, LMHC, PhD/PsyD) in the state of Massachusetts, with eligibility to provide clinical supervision.

Experience: Significant clinical experience, with a proven track record of leadership or supervisory responsibility in an educational or pediatric setting.
