SummaryWaring School seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative teacher of Mathematics and Science to cover for a parental leave teaching assignment for students in grades 6 – 12. This position runs from late August 2026 through the start of November 2026. The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach up through the level of Calculus. The leave will likely include coverage of 3 sections spanning Algebra 1 to AP Calculus and 1 Middle School Science class aligned to the candidates interests.
The successful candidate is a life-long learner wishing to share their interests and selves with our community. Our classes encourage collaboration and discussion. We seek to develop not only math skills, but also persistence and flexibility in problem solving. This role may expand to involve duties in other areas such as Athletics, Advising (through Tutorial program), Math co-curriculars, Experiential Learning (our Camping Trip program), Robotics, Debate, Theater, and more, depending on the candidate and the school’s needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching Mathematics
Job Requirements- Bachelor’s Degree in Math or other STEM field, or education degree with STEM specialty;
- At least two years of teaching experience is preferred, although not a requirement for application (recent graduates having tutored in Calculus are welcome to apply);
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate adolescent learners and to collaborate with colleagues;
- Familiarity with digital teaching and learning tools preferred;
- Reports to the Head of School or designee.
