STEM Teacher Position (Parental Leave Substitute)

Waring School is a co‑educational, college‑preparatory day school of 175 students in grades 6-12 in Beverly, MA. Waring’s mission is “To create and sustain a community of lifelong learners who are working together for the individual and common good.”
Summary:
Waring School seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative teacher of Mathematics and Science to cover a parental leave teaching assignment for students in grades 6‑12. The position runs from late August 2026 through the start of November 2026. The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach up through the level of Calculus and will cover 3 Algebra‑to‑AP‑Calculus sections and 1 middle‑school science class aligned to the candidate’s interests.
- Teach mathematics courses ranging from Algebra 1 to AP Calculus.
- Teach a middle‑school science class aligned to the candidate’s interests.
- Set up and facilitate instructional activities that encourage collaboration, discussion, and persistence in problem solving.
- Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the school’s mission of fostering lifelong learning.
- Possibly participate in Athletics, Advising, Math co‑curriculars, Experiential Learning , Robotics, Debate, Theater, or other school activities as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Math or another STEM field, or an education degree with a STEM specialty.
- We prefer at least two years of teaching experience, but recent graduates who have tutored in Calculus are welcome to apply.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to motivate adolescent learners and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
- Familiarity with digital teaching and learning tools is preferred.
- Will report to the Head of School or designee.
