Bev Cam is seeking a teaching artist to lead a three‑hour youth stop‑motion animation workshop in mid‑August (weekday morning preferred, day is flexible). The workshop should introduce students to stop‑motion through a hands‑on creative project. The teaching artist may propose a specific focus, such as a specific principle of animation, technique, or style – can incorporate basic claymation, LEGO/object animation, paper cut‑out animation, or another beginner‑friendly concept.
(Our previous workshop focused on creating a walk cycle)
The workshop will be geared toward youth participants, ages 9‑13, with a small class size of approximately 12‑14 students. Bev Cam will provide the space, basic equipment, and staff support!
ResponsibilitiesThe teaching artist will:
- Design and lead a three‑hour youth stop‑motion workshop.
- Create an age‑appropriate lesson plan with a hands‑on final project.
- Meet with Bev Cam staff in advance to review the lesson, materials, equipment, and setup needs.
- Provide a short workshop description for flyers, the event page, and promotion.
- Assist with two simple marketing videos to help promote the workshop.
- Create a welcoming, supportive environment for students with varying experience levels.
The ideal teaching artist has experience with stop‑motion, animation, or related field. Experience teaching or working with youth is preferred (but happy to work with someone excited to move into youth work)
