Position: Teaching Assistant for Color and Design

Title: Teaching Assistant for Color and Design

Department: Foundations

Hours needed each week: 6-8

Expected Duration of Job: Fall 2026

Pay: $15.00

Summary Statement: Assist faculty in Color and Design class. Applicant should be proficient with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Serve as a secondary teaching instructor in class, must be available (Mon/Wed 3:40-6:20pm or Tue/Thu 8:20-11am) during the semester with 5-10 hours of planning before the start of the semester. Must also be available 1-2 hours outside of class per week to assist students with projects.
  • Work with the faculty on the delivery of the course content and assisting students with assignments as needed.
  • Prepare the instructional space for classes on a weekly basis, making sure the necessary course materials and equipment are prepared, the classroom is organized and set-up for instruction.
  • Prepare materials for demos, take video recordings of demos, and upload them to the course Canvas for students to refer to later.
  • Help prepare and manage the course Canvas site and other course materials.
  • Assist students with learning and troubleshooting process and projects, in particular with using Adobe software and printing.
  • Mentor and guide first year students who are adjusting to college/art school.
  • Be a resource for students outside of class (peer to peer tutoring style).

Requirements:

  • Uphold a professional and respectful demeanor
  • Attend at least 2 TA workshops throughout the semester
  • Must be a sophomore, junior, or senior, 3.0 or higher GPA, and previously taken Color and Design OR Studio I and Studio II
