- Apply DFX methodologies including DFM, DFA, DFQ, DFR, DFT, DFS, and DFE during product design and development.
- Participate in design reviews and provide structured DFX feedback and approvals.
- Identify design risks and drive corrective actions before product release.
- Analyze product designs to ensure alignment with manufacturing and assembly processes.
- Recommend design simplification, standardization, and part count reduction.
- Ensure designs support manual and automated assembly where applicable.
- Lead or support DFMEA and PFMEA activities.
- Identify Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) parameters and ensure they are adequately controlled.
- Support root cause analysis for field, production, or quality issues related to design.
- Develop and maintain DFX guidelines, checklists, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with internal engineering standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support change management and engineering change reviews (ECR/ECO).
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
- Experience with DFM/DFA/DFMEA/PFMEA
- Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and process capability
- Ability to interpret 2D drawings and 3D CAD models
- Familiarity with materials, surface finishes, and production constraints
- CAD tools (Solid Works, Creo, NX, CATIA, etc.)
- PLM systems (Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile, etc.)
- FMEA and quality analysis tools
- Basic knowledge of SPC and statistical analysis
