Beamline Controls Scientist

Beamline Controls Scientist – responsible for developing advanced beamline control methods for our Purion ion implanter systems, combining physical insight, experimentation, and modern control algorithms, software tools, and AI/ML-enabled methods.

• Develop analytical and numerical models of beamlines and components.
• Apply state‑of‑the‑art principles and stay current with advances in the field.
• Contribute to internal technical knowledge and external engagement, including attending scientific conferences.
• Generate intellectual property, including invention disclosures and patent contributions.
• Collaborate across functions while operating as a strong individual contributor.

• B.Sc. in a relevant physical science or engineering discipline required; advanced degree and demonstrated individual‑contributor experience strongly desired.
• Relevant experience in semiconductor equipment or a related high‑technology field preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex technical problems.
• Travel to customers, suppliers, and conferences may be required (approximately 1–2 times per year).

U.S. base salary range: $ - $. The range reflects the typical compensation for this role across U.S. locations. Base pay is one part of our U.S. total compensation package, which includes eligibility in the Axcelis Team Incentive bonus plan and a comprehensive benefits package for regular employees working 20+ hours per week.
