Principal Engineer – Hardware

About the RolePosition:
Principal Engineer – Hardware, Research & Development Engineering, Beverly, MA. Requires hands‑on experience in control systems using Analog, Mixed Signal and Digital circuits with Embedded Microcontrollers. The role involves electronic system development for next‑generation atomic clocks. Candidates must provide proof of US citizenship or current permanent residency.
- Provide technical leadership for development of electronic systems for next generation atomic clocks.
- Liaise with Software and Mechanical Design Teams to ensure robust and producible product designs.
- Provide FMA and other troubleshooting support to production on new and existing products.
- Guide and mentor a focused group of electrical engineers on best practices for new product development and sustaining engineering.
- Develop and execute test and qualification plans for engineering prototypes.
- Design and capture schematics using the CAD suite, and work closely with the layout designer to ensure a working and manufacturable design.
- Manage electrical designs in the Product Lifecycle Management tool Agile, including creating bills of material and engineering change orders.
- BS/MS Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of relevant hardware design experience.
- Complete understanding of analog designs such as active filters and control loops.
- Strong knowledge of Mixed Signal circuits and Data Converters.
- Knowledge of the physical layer of digital interfaces such as USB, SPI and I2C.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering documents such as drawings, schematics, specifications, and Statements of Work.
- Experience working in multi‑disciplinary teams within a corporate setting.
- Technical research and drafting of design reports ability.
- Familiarity with PLM tools;
Agile experience desired. - Experience with component selection for space applications with radiation requirements is desirable.
- Programmable Logic (FPGA/CPLD) and HDL (VHDL/Verilog) design experience is preferred.
- RF and Microwave synthesis knowledge is preferred.
- Crystal oscillator design experience is preferred.

Pay RangeCompetitive base pay, restricted stock units, quarterly bonus, health benefits, retirement savings plans, and industry‑leading ESPP. Annual base salary range: $75,000 – $232,000, depending on location, skills, and experience.
