Axcelis Technologies is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Manager I to lead a talented team of engineers developing advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment. As a Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will guide engineers through complex technical challenges, support the development of next-generation products, and create an environment where individuals and teams can do their best work. You will work closely with cross-functional partners across systems, electrical engineering, controls, software, manufacturing, quality, and product management to bring innovative ideas from concept to production.

• Promote engineering rigor through sound analysis, risk management, and data-driven decision making.

• Partner with program management and cross-functional teams to execute development programs from concept through product release.
• Align team priorities and resources with business objectives and project commitments.
• Remove obstacles, manage technical risks, and help teams successfully execute against schedule and performance goals.
• Support product improvements, issue resolution, and continuous enhancement of engineering processes and tools.

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience developing mechanical or electromechanical products in a technical environment.
• Experience leading engineering projects, mentoring engineers, or providing technical leadership.
• Demonstrated success designing complex systems, subsystems, or assemblies.
• Strong understanding of product development from concept through production release.
• Experience with 3D CAD and PLM tools (Creo/Windchill or equivalent).
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Prior experience managing direct reports within an engineering organization.
• Experience in semiconductor capital equipment, automation, robotics, vacuum systems, precision motion, or advanced manufacturing.
• Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI) programs.
• Knowledge of engineering analysis and validation methodologies.
• Familiarity with SEMI standards, cleanroom environments, or high-reliability systems.
• Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives.
