Position: Director of Operations Mental Wellness - YMCA of the North Shore

Director of Operations – Mental Wellness

Are you a licensed mental health professional with strong leadership, organizational, and operational skills? Are you passionate about creating systems that help teams thrive and expanding access to mental wellness services throughout the community?

The YMCA of the North Shore is seeking a Director of Operations – Mental Wellness to serve as a key operational partner to the Executive Director of Mental Wellness. This position will help translate the department's strategic vision into effective programs, systems, partnerships, and sustainable practices across the Association.

The Director of Operations will provide leadership across Inclusion Services and Family & Community Engagement, while helping integrate Mental Wellness into YMCA programs, operations, and organizational culture.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with the Executive Director to turn strategic priorities into actionable plans, workflows, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
  • Provide operational leadership and supervision across Inclusion Services and Family & Community Engagement.
  • Develop systems, procedures, and communication practices that improve coordination, accountability, and service delivery.
  • Lead projects and initiatives from planning through implementation, monitoring progress and adjusting strategies as needed.
  • Coach, supervise, and develop staff while supporting leadership growth, onboarding, training, and succession planning.
  • Use data, staff feedback, and participant outcomes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Strengthen partnerships across YMCA departments, schools, community organizations, and service providers.
  • Support referral pathways and community-based mental wellness initiatives.
  • Ensure operational practices align with YMCA policies, HIPAA, documentation standards, grant requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Support budget monitoring, resource planning, reporting, and overall departmental sustainability.
  • Represent the Mental Wellness Department in internal and community meetings as assigned.
What You'll Bring
  • Current independent clinical licensure in Massachusetts (LICSW or LMHC) required.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Mental Health, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Experience in mental health, behavioral health, inclusion services, community-based services, or a related field.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to develop effective systems, identify operational challenges, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with community partners and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, documentation standards, and applicable compliance requirements.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a closely related behavioral health field from an accredited institution required.
  • Current independent clinical licensure in Massachusetts (LICSW or LMHC) required.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in behavioral health, child and family services, community mental health, or related human services leadership preferred.
