For more than 50 years, American Shoe Machinery has designed, manufactured, and serviced specialized machinery for the footwear industry. Unlike high-volume production shops, every day brings something different. You'll manufacture precision replacement parts and custom components that help keep industrial machinery operating around the world.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced manual machinist who enjoys craftsmanship, problem solving, and working independently. You'll join a small, experienced team where quality matters, your machining knowledge is respected, and your work has a direct impact on customers.

This position is temporary to cover a medical leave, but ASMC is looking for the right person—not simply the fastest hire. Whether you're looking for full-time hours, part-time flexibility, or you're a retired machinist who still enjoys spending time in the shop, they're happy to build a schedule that works for both sides.

• Set up and operate manual Bridgeport milling machines, engine lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and other shop equipment.
• Manufacture precision components from blueprints, engineering drawings, sample parts, sketches, and verbal instructions.
• Machine replacement parts while maintaining close tolerances and exceptional quality standards.
• Select materials, tooling, work holding, cutting tools, and machining methods for each job.
• Plan machining sequences to maximize efficiency and accuracy.
• Perform welding, grinding, fitting, and finishing operations as required.
• Build or modify fixtures, tooling, and jigs to support production.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and identify equipment requiring repair.
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe machine shop.

• 5+ years of manual machining experience
• Strong Bridgeport mill and engine lathe experience
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings
• Experience machining precision components to close tolerances
• Strong understanding of manual machining practices
• Welding and grinding experience
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Commitment to quality workmanship and attention to detail
