OverviewVeeco is looking for a Manufacturing Operations leader who brings strong execution, cross‑functional partnership, and hands‑on leadership to support our IBD
300 product line. In this role, you’ll lead the manufacturing organization responsible for building, testing, and delivering the IBD
300 product line, partnering closely with Product Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, and Service to meet customer commitments and business objectives. The Senior Manager, Manufacturing Operations – IBD
300 Product Line, reports to the Sr. VP, Global Operations, and serves as a key member of the operations team. This position requires a manufacturing leader with experience in bringing complex capital equipment to market in a high‑mix/low‑volume environment. The responsibilities include production, manufacturing engineering, planning, quality execution, and continuous improvement.
- Lead the manufacturing team responsible for the IBD
300 product line, including sub‑assembly, assembly, integration, test, and shipment readiness activities. - Drive a safety‑first culture and drive achievement of product line safety goals, including zero preventable incidents.
- Partnering with your peers (engineering, software, supply chain, quality and planning) to develop hardware, software and manufacturing processes that support operational goals (safety, quality, on time delivery, gross margin, cycle time).
- Drive concurrent engineering activities to optimize the design for: modularity, DfX (design for manufacturing, servicing, quality), first pass yield, delayed configurability, ergonomics, low‑cost sourcing, etc.
- Drive product line quality performance, including in‑box quality, out‑of‑box quality, first‑pass yield, rework reduction, and effective containment of production issues.
- Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering against committed schedules, targeting on‑time shipment performance of greater than 95%.
- Develop and manage product line manufacturing plans, staffing requirements, capacity needs, budget inputs, and performance metrics in alignment with business demand.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, and operational standards, including ISO 9001 requirements and 6S expectations within the IBD
300 manufacturing area. - Build and develop a high‑performing IBD
300 manufacturing team through training, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and effective workforce planning. - Establish and execute a product line productivity roadmap focused on labor efficiency, cycle time, earned hours versus burned hours, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
- Lead daily product line operating reviews and GEMBA activities to identify priorities, remove roadblocks, and ensure timely escalation of critical issues.
- Lead production‑related quality investigations and corrective actions using structured problem solving, 8D, root cause analysis, and shift‑left activities.
- Execute product transition, change implementation, and manufacturing readiness plans within the product life cycle management phase‑gate process.
