Community Director (Contract)
Location: Northshore MA (Hybrid)
Duration: Minimum 6-month commitment Pay: $45–50/hr
Our client, a nonprofit organization dedicated to professional development and community engagement, is seeking a Community Director to lead the growth and development of its professional membership community.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys building communities, developing marketing strategies, creating meaningful member engagement, and driving recruitment initiatives. The ideal candidate thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys taking ownership of projects from concept through execution.
Responsibilities- Develop and execute marketing strategies to grow a professional membership community
- Build and manage Linked In outreach and engagement campaigns
- Create compelling marketing messaging, collateral, and promotional content
- Coordinate recruitment initiatives and engage prospective members
- Maintain public-facing calendars, program schedules, and event communications
- Develop integrated marketing campaigns across multiple educational and professional programs
- Maintain CRM/member databases and ensure data accuracy
- Partner with internal stakeholders on marketing initiatives, events, webinars, and digital content
- Track recruitment efforts, campaign performance, and community engagement metrics
- Provide regular updates on progress and recommend improvements
- Support additional marketing and community-building initiatives as needed
- Experience building or growing a professional community, membership organization, alumni network, or association
- Strong experience with Linked In marketing, outreach, and engagement strategies
- Experience using Salesforce or another CRM platform
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management and organizational abilities
- Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable balancing marketing, communications, and relationship-building responsibilities
We're seeking someone who has successfully grown communities—not just marketed to them. The ideal candidate understands how to attract, engage, and retain professionals through thoughtful outreach, strategic marketing, and relationship development.
Candidates should be excited about making a minimum six-month commitment and working in a hybrid environment as onsite collaboration increases throughout the engagement.
