Engineer II-Quality

Job Description

Microchip Frequency and Time Division (FTD), a world leader in precise time solutions, sets the world’s standard for time. FTD generates, distributes, and applies precise time for communications, aerospace/defense, and IT infrastructure and metrology industries.

You will provide quality assurance support to ensure purchased parts and manufactured goods conform to company standards. Responsibilities include developing, applying, and maintaining quality requirements from design through manufacturing, assisting in meeting department goals, and implementing continuous improvement activities using Six Sigma tools.

• Support operations by identifying, analyzing, and resolving product and process problems using Six Sigma methodologies.
• Audit manufactured goods conformance to Engineering & Manufacturing Standards.
• Engage with contract manufacturers for product transfer, new product introduction and change management.
• Provide routine reporting to management on material and product quality trends, recommending improvements and corrective actions.
• Perform First Article Inspection (FAI) on PCBA’s, pre-fab parts, sheet metal parts, systems, etc.
• Perform supplier audits of products, procedures, practices and processes for conformity.
• Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) meetings providing supplier and manufacturing quality inputs.
• Perform root cause/corrective action analysis of failures and analyze non-conformities using PLM system.
• Assist in conducting supplier quality system audits and perform process audits at supplier sites (domestic and international).
• Assist Inspectors with piece part quality issues, drive corrective actions, interface with suppliers and Engineering.
• Other design, development and support tasks as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field and 4 years’ experience in Quality; or equivalent education and experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing or similar environment, preferably PCB design/electronics assemblies.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma and 8D methodologies and tools.
• Experience with Lean and quality philosophies, processes, techniques, and methodologies.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Highly motivated, driven professional with ability to work independently.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of Minitab SPC application.
• Open to training in Auditing skills (ISO 9001), GDT, and lead training for IPC-610, J-STD-001, and internal certifications.

Annual base salary range: $68,640 - $143,000.*

* Range depends on location, skills and experience.

Compensation includes base pay, restricted stock units, quarterly bonuses, health benefits from day one, retirement savings plans, and an ESPP program.
