Job Description
The Supplier Quality Engineering team is responsible for driving the quality of the raw materials and components from our suppliers worldwide. This includes managing supplier risk through QMS certification and/or surveys, leading or supporting supplier QMS–based audits, supporting external audits related to supplier management, and driving suppliers to use robust root‑cause/failure analysis techniques and implement systemic corrective actions to address any quality issues that arise from our manufacturing sites.
SpecificJob Duties
- Managing and periodically reviewing supplier certification and survey status.
- Managing and periodically reviewing supplier quality scoring and taking action to address gaps.
- Performing supplier audits, noting gaps, and formulating action items to close them.
- Working with internal factory quality teams to review issues found during incoming inspection and/or the production line and determining whether the issue originated internally or is supplier‑caused.
- Using internal tools and processes to document non‑conformances and drive appropriate corrective actions and process improvements from suppliers to meet Microchip’s quality requirements.
- Attending key meetings to give non‑conformance updates and progress to factory teams and supplier quality engineering teams.
- Collaborating with other quality‑related individuals (Factory Quality, Customer Quality, Supplier Quality) across Microchip sites in the US and abroad (e.g., Asia, Europe).
- A bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field (physics, chemistry, materials) or an engineering‑related field (mechanical, electrical).
- U.S. citizenship (position requires working in ITAR‑approved facilities and on ITAR‑approved products).
- Ability to learn effectively and solve problems using standardized processes (e.g., 5 Whys, 8D, 7‑Step).
- A detail‑oriented, self‑starter who drives open issues and projects to completion.
- Ability to travel to other Microchip and/or supplier sites domestically or internationally.
- Willingness to occasionally call into meetings outside of normal working hours due to the global nature of the company.
- 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing and/or quality engineering is highly preferred.
0% – 25% of travel required; the position is 100% on‑site at the Brimbal Beverly site with occasional visits to the Tozer Beverly site and Lawrence, Massachusetts site.

Pay RangeWe offer a total compensation package that includes competitive base pay, restricted stock units, and quarterly bonus payments, along with health benefits, retirement savings plans, and an ESPP program. The annual base salary range for this position could be performed in the U.S. is $70,304 – $143,000 (dependent on location, skills, and experience).
