Job Description:
Microchip Technology Inc. has a Senior Technical Staff Engineer-Supplier Quality opening based in Beverly, MA. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing a small Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) team located across the US and EU, supporting MCHP's Systems factories, with direct responsibility for supporting the Beverly factory. In this role, you will work collaboratively with Factory Quality, Operations, Supply Management, and Suppliers to address quality issues and implement corrective actions that ensure quality levels meet MCHP's standards, helping to deliver reliable, industry-leading products across the organization's global manufacturing network.
The Supplier Operations Quality Engineering team is responsible for driving quality of raw materials and components from our suppliers worldwide. This role is involved with all aspects of the supply management and manufacturing process, through the use of robust root cause failure analyses, and meeting internal customer requirements. The position will support Microchip’s internal factories and BUs when quality issues stem from raw material/components.
You will work directly with the supplier manufacturers to drive failure analysis, containment and improvement actions. This person is to be stationed in Beverly, MA. This person will also be the Systems SQE Leader with a team of 6 people located in the US and EU.
- A bachelor’s degree in science (Physics/Chemistry/Statistics/Material) or Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Chemical) with 10+ years of experience in QA department managing suppliers, subcontractors and people.
- Manage and periodically review supplier quality score and follow up on improvements.
- Perform audit at suppliers’ site and follow up until closure of all audits corrective action.
- Drive suppliers’ improvement program.
- Work with Internal factories/BUs Quality Engineering, and Supplier Quality Team, to review quality failures found at incoming inspection and in the production line to determine if the failure is related to the workmanship or manufacturing process of the Component Supplier.
- Use various Quality Processes in the organization (Nonconformance Review Board, Supplier Corrective Action Request, Corrective and Preventive Actions, Failure Analysis) and drive Corrective Actions and Process Improvements from the Component Supplier to meet Microchip's Quality Expectations.
- Interact with QA personnel from other Microchip sites. PE, CQE, CQM, Purchasing and relevant staff from other Microchip sites and Microchip Suppliers.
- Ability to solve problems based on known problem-solving methodology.
- Coordination, monitoring and follow up skills on issues and projects.
- Ability to travel when required
