Software Architect, Software Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Architect to join our dynamic team at Axcelis, a leading semiconductor manufacturing company.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software architecture, possess in-depth knowledge of the latest technology stacks, and demonstrate a holistic approach to system design.

• Architectural design and planning:
  Lead the design and development of the next generation software of Axcelis products; develop and maintain a comprehensive software architecture strategy aligned with business goals; understand product and system requirements and translate them into an architecture vision.
• Technology expertise:
  Stay abreast of the latest technology stacks for semiconductor manufacturing, including embedded systems, automation, machine learning, and data analytics; evaluate and recommend emerging technologies.
• System integration:
  Design and oversee integration with hardware components; ensure seamless communication and interoperability among software modules and hardware.
• Quality assurance:
  Establish and enforce software design and coding standards; collaborate with QA teams to develop and implement testing strategies.
• Cross‑functional collaboration:
  Work with hardware engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to design scalable, efficient, modular software.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in software architecture focused on complex systems and real‑time applications.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and techniques.
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, and Python.
• Exceptional problem‑solving abilities and keen attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of embedded systems, automation, and control systems.
• Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or related industries highly desirable.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
