The Beverly Public Schools is currently looking for an experienced part-time Diesel and Gasoline Engine Mechanic for school buses to keep up our level of commitment to safety and service to the parents and students of the Beverly Public Schools. In this role, the successful candidate will perform school bus repair and maintenance work in accordance with factory and industry standards, run diagnostics on school buses and work closely with other team members to meet district transportation goals.

Responsibilities
  • Perform minor and major repairs on school buses and vans
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance on school buses, including inspection, tire rotation, and oil changes
  • Maintain parts inventory and cleanliness in the shop
  • Collaborate with the repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs
  • Perform regular diagnostic tests on school buses
  • Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles
Qualifications and Skills
  • 5+ years’ experience as a Diesel and Gasoline School Bus Mechanic
  • Must possess a valid MA CDL license with School Bus Driver Certification
  • Ability to lift up to 150 pounds
  • Excellent reading and writing skills
  • Ability to pass criminal background checks and drug test(s)
  • ASE Diesel Certification an asset

Compensation: $28.90/ hour

Position Type: Part-time

Salary: $28 to $28 Per Hour

Welcome to Transportation

Our department is complete with 48 total vehicles, 11 of which are vans. We have 35 drivers & 20 monitors. The director, secretary and dispatcher maintain the department Monday-Friday from 8:00 to 4:00PM and would be glad to assist you in any way regarding school bus transportation. We provide transportation to the students of Beverly who attend our public schools as well as those who attend parochial schools in Beverly.

Students are bussed daily to and from their respective schools. Transportation is provided for students who participate in school field trips, athletic/music programs, or any other school based activity that requires bussing. Our goal is to provide transportation to all students in a safe and timely manner.

Job Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a mechanic or similar role
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components
  • Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in completing repairs
  • Valid driver's license
